SINGAPORE - Singapore will bring forward the release of final economic growth data for the fourth quarter of 2008 as well as December inflation figures to Jan 21, the government said on Wednesday, ahead of budget day on Jan 22.
Singapore usually releases the GDP numbers about five to six weeks after the end of a quarter.
Singapore's economy contracted for a third consecutive quarter in October-December, shrinking at a seasonally adjusted, annualised pace of 12.5 per cent following a revised 5.4 per cent decline in July-September, according to advance estimates.
As a result of the deepening recession, the government will announce its budget for the fiscal year beginning in April in January instead of the usual February schedule. -- REUTERS
